In a significant ruling, a special court in Mumbai has denied bail to Mohammed Rafiq Sardar Chaudhari, who is alleged to be part of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. This decision comes in light of his involvement in a shooting incident that occurred outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan's residence last year.
The Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) court, presided over by Judge Mahesh Jadhav, rejected Chaudhari's bail application. The specifics of the court's order have yet to be released.
The shooting incident took place on the morning of April 14, 2024, when two individuals on a motorcycle, identified as Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, opened fire near Salman Khan's Galaxy apartment located in Bandra West.
According to police reports, Chaudhari had conducted surveillance of the Galaxy Apartments two days prior to the shooting, recording a video of the area which he subsequently sent to Anmol Bishnoi, who is also a wanted suspect in this case.
Currently, Chaudhari, along with Gupta, Pal, and other associates including Sonukumar Bishnoi, Mohd Rafiq Choudhary, and Harpal Singh, remains in judicial custody.
Notably, one of the accused, Anujkumar Thapan, tragically took his own life while in police custody.
The police have named Lawrence Bishnoi and Anmol Bishnoi as wanted individuals in the chargesheet related to this case.
